A weekend with children in Cambrils, in low season
If you come to spend a weekend with children in Cambrils in low season, and you do not know where to start, we make it easy for you and we make you the following proposal:
In the morning, after having breakfast in your accommodation where you are staying or in a cafeteria, on a sunny terrace, you can visit the Samà Park, a grand historical garden where you can also see exotic birds and fallow deer. We recommend you give around one to two hours for this visit, children will enjoy the open spaces to run and many corners with local vegetation, caves, bridges and a viewpoint over the pond, as well as feeding the fallow deer and having the macaws of the aviary over your heads. The park is located about five kilometres from the town centre.
Then return to the centre of Cambrils, if you still have some time before lunch, stop in the old centre of Cambrils, and if you have not had a vermouth in the Samà Park, you can do it here after taking a walk through its streets and squares. You will then have to decide whether you have lunch in the old town or if you prefer to go down to the seaside. In this link you will find suggestions about areas with ideal restaurants to go with the little ones due to their location in squares or promenades, which makes it easier for them to get up from the table to play, and thus let the adults finish eating peacefully.
The afternoon is to be enjoyed by the sea and not to miss the sunset from the west, visit the fisherman area in the port where you can walk its emblematic tower, the Torre del Puerto. The children will surely like the walk up the spiral stairs and the view of the seafront from its large windows. We hope you are lucky and you can meet the fishermen mending their nets, it is a very traditional way of life.
Come also to the red lighthouse and take the opportunity to read the panels that are scattered around the port that explain the fishing art, the types of boats and other information. From the lighthouse, you will have another point of view of the port, and when you start getting tired, you can go to the Fisherman´s Park where there is a play area and a bar-restaurant where you can have a drink until dawn.
The second day in Cambrils we suggest a morning to explore its coastline along the promenade, on foot or by bicycle, it is up to you. You will have to decide if you go towards the West or towards the East, you will surely not be able to do the whole route if you are not very trained and used to doing kilometres. To the East there are 6 kms of promenade with a bike lane, and towards the West it is 4.5 kms, from the port of Cambrils. You can make stops along the route, to play on the beach, the children’s oasis or to have a snack or vermouth on a terrace. If you have not brought your bikes, do not worry, you can rent bikes and scooters.
Take the opportunity to take a refreshing dip in the sea and, when you are hungry, taste the Mediterranean cuisine in one of the restaurants of Cambrils. If you need help choosing, take a look at our Gastronomy section.
We leave you the afternoon free, though if you still want more before leaving, you have more parks in Cambrils to visit and about seventy children’s play areas.
We hope you enjoy your stay and hope to see you again soon!
