Cambrils, Smart Tourism Destination
Cambrils has completed the work on the DTI Diagnostic Report with the support of SEGITTUR, a public entity driven by the Spanish State Secretariat for Tourism and responsible for the implementation of the DTI methodology in destinations, and with the collaboration of the Autonomous Body of the Tourism Board of the Tarragona Provincial Council.
After joining the DTI Network in 2020, Cambrils has committed to implementing the Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) methodology, aimed at improving the destination’s competitiveness in the main action areas of a DTI: governance, accessibility, innovation, technology, and sustainability, and thus improving the quality of services for visitors and residents from the perspective of transparency and participation. The implementation of the DTI methodology in the destination has been achieved through the execution of the DTI Diagnostic Report. This methodology, based on 97 requirements and 261 indicators covering the key areas of a DTI, has made it possible to assess the maturity level of each requirement in the Cambrils destination and propose recommendations for execution.
Thanks to the DTI diagnostic prepared by SEGITTUR, Cambrils now has a roadmap for transforming the destination into a Smart Tourist Destination.
Valid until July 2026, the destination is now classified as a “Destination Committed to DTI,” accrediting that it has started implementing the DTI model, a significant step toward becoming part of the group of leading destinations in tourism development, with a forward-looking strategy based on governance, sustainability, accessibility, innovation, and technology as its core pillars.
The Cambrils City Council has been part of the Smart Tourist Destinations Network since 2020, demonstrating the city’s commitment to transforming the destination, which has now been realized through the implementation of the Smart Tourist Destination methodology.
